Section: Platyhelminthes

Platyhelminthes section deals with Phylum Platyhelminthes or flatworms which include the planarians, flukes and tapeworms. It is mainly working on the following groups of organisms: Trematode, Cestode and Monogenean parasites of Vertebrates and Acanthocephala. More than 41 programmes have been handled by the section and completed the database of 18 States and UTs. Database on Platyhelminthes species of 5 Biogeographic zones have been completed so far and work on different State fauna, Biogeographic zone and Wildlife sanctuaries is under progress.The section has total holdings of 23685 including 456 Type Collections.
