Lepidoptera Section
Lepidoptera Section is primarily involved in the documentation of Lepidopteran (moths and butterflies) fauna of our country. The section holds 118486 specimens. There are 4024 species and subspecies of butterflies and about 1850 species and subspecies of moths. Lepidoptera section is honored in having the collection of 49 countries (including India) and 465 types. The collections of L.de. Niceville, K. Jordan, W.H. Evans, E. E. Green, G. C. Dudgeon are some of the important collections housed in the Lepidoptera section. So far, the scientists and scientific staff of the Lepidoptera section has provided Identification and advisory services to more than 150 institution.
